PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Killer Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viva LaBam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Killer Boom has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Killer Boom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Viva LaBam!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boom drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
LaBam is looking to reverse the position.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
LaBam is pushing Boom's head away, looking to escape. Boom manages to hold on to the position though.
LaBam tries to buck Boom off but Boom is having none of it.
Boom is looking to take a break and control but LaBam is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
LaBam is trying to buck Boom off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
LaBam is looking to regain half guard here but Boom keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee asks Boom politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Boom prefers to stall for the moment though.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
LaBam dodges the ground and pound from Boom.
LaBam sneaks back into half guard.
Still in half guard, Boom seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
LaBam looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Boom missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Boom not doing much here.
Boom moves into full mount! LaBam won't be happy about that!
Boom tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
LaBam is trying to stand up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
LaBam is trying desperately to improve position.
Boom controlling the pace for now.
LaBam is trying desperately to improve position.
LaBam looks gassed!
Boom takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
LaBam is looking to get to half guard.
Boom tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
LaBam tries to hold on but Boom postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Killer Boom dominated that round.

Horrible takedown by Boom or perhaps it was just good defense by LaBam which made him look bad.

LaBam gets caught flat footed, as Boom shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Boom pushes down on LaBam's leg and manages to get into half guard.
LaBam trying to control from the bottom.
Boom is looking to advance position but LaBam won't allow it.
Boom sitting and controlling from the half guard.
LaBam works his way to full guard. Good work.
LaBam is breathing heavily.

LaBam looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Boom stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. LaBam swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boom could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
LaBam wants to improve his position but instead Boom has moved into half guard.
Boom is trying to control the action in half guard but LaBam is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
LaBam trying to control but Boom postures up.
Boom looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
LaBam is not content to let Boom control the position.
Boom sitting and controlling from the half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Killer Boom wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
LaBam stuffs the takedown.

Boom shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Boom sitting in guard here, content to control.
Boom trying to control but LaBam is working from the bottom.
LaBam looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boom is one step ahead there.
Boom postures up.

Boom is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Killer Boom just wasn't active enough.
Boom fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Killer Boom. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and LaBam counters with a head kick. That will keep Boom thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

That was a close second round but I would say that Killer Boom will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



LaBam shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Boom manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
LaBam wants to stand and escape but instead Boom has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Boom might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
LaBam is trying to control the position but Boom postures up.
Boom slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Boom passes into half guard.
Killer Boom overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boom is trying to control the action in half guard but LaBam is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Boom is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
LaBam trying to control but Boom postures up.
Boom wants to pass the guard but LaBam is defending well.
Boom is trying to control. LaBam wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
LaBam won't allow Boom to pass to mount.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
LaBam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Boom throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around LaBam's waist but LaBam gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boom off to one side.

and LaBam counters with an outside leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from LaBam. No joy for Boom on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Killer Boom. That's going to take a lot out of him.

LaBam stays in close to Boom's body and controls the position.
Boom controls LaBam momentarily but LaBam frees himself.

Boom looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Boom has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but LaBam has passed into side control.
LaBam wants to control for a moment but Boom uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Boom has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. LaBam is working away from the top position though.
Boom is not content to let LaBam control the position.

LaBam escapes and gets back to his feet.

LaBam looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Boom is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Viva LaBam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Boom has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
