Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Montana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Montana's choice of entrance music: "We are the Champions" by Queen. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montana misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alves tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Montana moves away from the strike by Alves.
Montana throws out a loose jab but Alves uses good head movement to avoid it.
Alves takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Montana tries to clinch up but Alves circles away and keeps his distance.
Alves will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Alves connects with a nice looking jab.

A punch lands to the side of Alves 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Alves tries to land a front kick but Montana steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Montana walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Alves checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
The fighters circling - Montana throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alves throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Montana stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Montana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Alves manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Montana is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Alves had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
