PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kilgore Trout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Christian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trout's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Chase, Giorgio Moroder. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kilgore Trout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Christian!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Christian crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Trout - the referee stops the clock and Christian gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Trout. Christian manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Trout throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Kilgore Trout seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Trout avoids the head kick by Christian.
Nice combo by Trout! Oh, that's hurt him - Christian falls to the canvas and Trout follows him into side control.


Christian is rocked!
Christian is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Christian looks gassed!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Christian parries the strikes from Trout easily there. Trout is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Christian to escape.
Christian is still in real trouble! Can Trout finish him?

Trout tries for a kimura but Christian is defending well.
Christian seems to have recovered his senses.
Christian tries to improve position but can't.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Trout lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Christian down.
Christian really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trout. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Trout stands up.
Christian dodges the punch combination from Trout.
Trout throws a right and a left that both miss.
Trout misses with a series of wild punches.

Trout moves into the clinch.

Trout pulls guard effortlessly.

Trout working for a triangle but Christian defends it easily.
Christian throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Trout is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Trout wants to sweep but no luck.

Trout is looking for a triangle but Christian pushes his legs off easily.
Christian lands a couple of digs.

Trout looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Christian cracks Trout with a solid left hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Trout gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Christian takes an elbow to the forehead.
Trout lands with a short shot to the head.
Christian is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Trout gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Trout jumps guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Trout is on top in guard.

Trout decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Christian, up you get!
Christian closes the distance and clinches up with Trout, looking for a takedown. Christian pushes Trout against the cage but Trout circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Trout misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Christian has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Trout.

Christian avoids the head kick by Trout.

Trout clinches up against the cage.
Christian tries to work over Trout's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Trout lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Trout lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Christian or not.
Christian tries for a takedown. No joy.
Kilgore Trout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Christian.
Trout managing to block the knees to the body from Christian.
Trout lands an elbow just above Christian 's eye.
Trout lands a body shot in the clinch.
Christian with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Trout breaks the clinch.
Christian tries for a takedown but Trout sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Trout throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Christian.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Trout closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Trout lands an uppercut.

Trout escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trout's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Trout duly obliges.
Trout jabs at Christian's body.
Trout throws a head kick but Christian moves out of range.
Christian blocks the body kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Christian looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Christian wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Christian shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Trout pinned against the cage. Trout gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Trout clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Christian drops down looking for an ankle pick but Trout pulls his leg out and moves away.
Christian tries to clinch up but Trout circles away and keeps his distance.
Trout circles away from the clinch attempt.

Christian closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Christian seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Christian wants to stand but Trout has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Trout has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Trout tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Christian uses his free foot to push down on Trout's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Trout.
Trout is trying to escape the mount.
Trout gets back to half guard.
Trout moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trout is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Trout decides to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Trout drives through and clinches with Christian against the cage.
Trout landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Christian tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Trout just stands there and leans against the cage.
Trout with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Trout scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Trout breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Christian fails to land the takedown.
Trout takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Christian takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Some wild striking there from Trout.
Christian bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Trout's head backwards.
Christian moves out of range as Trout throws a body kick.
Christian avoids a kick to the body.
Christian tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trout swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Christian drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Christian is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Christian must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Christian works over Trout with some ground and pound from guard.
Christian is pushing down on Trout's leg trying to pass to half guard. Trout is fighting to maintain full guard but Christian has managed to sneak the leg through.

Christian looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Christian sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Trout defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kilgore Trout dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Christian gets a takedown into half guard.
Christian is nestled in close to Trout, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.


Trout is rocked!
Christian working Trout over with strikes.
Oh Trout is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Trout is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Christian scores with a couple of nice shots.
Brian Christian has got the better of the ground game so far.

Trout looking for submissions off his back.
Christian drops an elbow to the side of Trout's head.
Christian is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Christian scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Christian winds up and cracks Trout with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Trout is defending against the submission attempts here by Christian.
Christian looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Christian stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Trout to get to his feet.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Christian! This one is all over!
