PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Sawaguchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lol Topov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Topov has chosen gangstar-you wanna battle me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lee Sawaguchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lol Topov!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Topov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sawaguchi, pushing him back against the cage.
Sawaguchi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Topov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Topov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sawaguchi tries to clinch but Topov moves away

and Topov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sawaguchi tries to roll over but Topov keeps him under control.
Sawaguchi wants to control but Topov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Sawaguchi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Topov scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Topov wanted to stand there but Sawaguchi had control of the position.

Sawaguchi is looking for a triangle but Topov pushes his legs off easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

and Topov counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sawaguchi!

Topov is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sawaguchi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sawaguchi breaks Topov's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Sawaguchi won't allow Topov to sweep him here.
Sawaguchi tries to free his leg and advance position but Topov is retaining full guard.

Sawaguchi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Topov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Topov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Topov!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sawaguchi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Topov off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lol Topov dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Topov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sawaguchi actively working from the bottom here.
Sawaguchi wants to control but Topov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Topov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sawaguchi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Topov is breathing heavily.

Topov gets to his feet. Sawaguchi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Sawaguchi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Topov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Topov dives in and scores a takedown into Sawaguchi's guard.
Topov won't allow Sawaguchi to sweep him here.
Sawaguchi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Topov manages to get himself to full guard.
Lol Topov has got the better of the ground game so far.

Topov wants to control but Sawaguchi is keeping busy.
Sawaguchi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Topov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sawaguchi is working for a submission of some sort.

Sawaguchi wants to work for an arm triangle but Topov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sawaguchi is keen to just control but Topov is a slippery customer.

Sawaguchi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Sawaguchi wants to pass the guard but Topov is defending well.
Topov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sawaguchi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sawaguchi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Topov keeps working.
Topov is in trouble now - Sawaguchi has advanced to mount!
Sawaguchi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Topov is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lee Sawaguchi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Sawaguchi has his feet on Topov's thighs here. He's pushed Topov off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Topov screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
