PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Dillan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miyamoto Usagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dillan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kick Ass. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Miyamoto Usagi enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Dillan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miyamoto Usagi!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dillan tries to clinch but fails miserably
enabling Usagi to counter with a crisp jab.
Usagi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dillan was well out of range. Poor timing from Usagi.
Usagi tries for a takedown but Dillan circles away easily
and Dillan counters with a one-two to the body.
Dillan misses with a double jab
and Usagi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Dillan tries to clinch up.

Usagi moves into the clinch successfully.
Usagi wants a takedown.
Usagi tries to pull guard but Dillan won't allow it.
Max Dillan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miyamoto Usagi.

Usagi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dillan pulls his leg out and moves away.

Dillan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Usagi on the ground.

Dillan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Max Dillan.
Dillan throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Usagi counters with a single leg into guard. Dillan didn't expect that.

Dillan has Usagi pulled in close to control his posture.
Usagi trying to control the position from guard on top but Dillan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Dillan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Usagi defends well.
Usagi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dillan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Usagi stays in close to Dillan's body and controls the position.
Usagi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Usagi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dillan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Usagi drops back looking for a leg! Dillan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dillan manages to kick Usagi off! Usagi jumps back into Dillan's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dillan is trying to keep Usagi in close.

Dillan pulls Usagi in to control the position.
Usagi forces his way into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Usagi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dillan keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miyamoto Usagi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dillan throws a punch but it's blocked by Usagi.

Usagi blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Dillan has a couple of punches blocked by Usagi.
Dillan struggles to land a body shot inside as Usagi controls his hands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Usagi has Dillan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dillan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Dillan tries to throw a body punch but Usagi avoids it by throwing Dillan back against the cage.

Usagi wants the takedown. Dillan is fighting it off but Usagi persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Dillan's guard against the cage.

Usagi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dillan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Usagi has Dillan in his guard.
Usagi has momentary wrist control but Dillan slips an elbow through the middle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dillan throws a lazy uppercut

and Usagi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Usagi.

Usagi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Usagi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dillan seems keen to control Usagi's posture.
Usagi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Usagi wants to control from the top but Dillan keeps moving.

Usagi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Usagi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dillan wants to stand and escape but Usagi is having none of it.

Usagi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dillan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miyamoto Usagi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Dillan throws a series of punches but Usagi avoids them all with ease.
Dillan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Usagi connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dillan scrambles back to his feet.
Usagi misses with a body shot.
Usagi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dillan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Usagi somewhat.

Dillan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Dillan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dillan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Usagi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Usagi circles away from the clinch attempt
and Usagi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Usagi doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Dillan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dillan enables Usagi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dillan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Usagi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Dillan manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Usagi has isolated one of Dillan's arms. Dillan looking to fight him off but Usagi twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
