And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mezger rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sanchez has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Mezger.

Mezger scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mezger moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Sanchez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sanchez is looking to regain half guard here but Mezger keeps moving and retains side control.
Mezger is staying tight to Sanchez's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Sanchez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mezger wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
