PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kenneth Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Willhelm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Willhelm has chosen Jesus Freak as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kenneth Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Willhelm!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Willhelm does it's job there.


It looks like Kenneth Morgan has been cut.
Morgan throws a lazy right hand but Willhelm sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Willhelm throws a jab when Morgan was well out of range.
Morgan misses with a takedown attempt - Willhelm sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Willhelm slaps away a takedown attempt from Morgan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kenneth Morgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Willhelm stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Willhelm wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenneth Morgan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Morgan shoots for a takedown but Willhelm saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Morgan throws a looping overhand right but Willhelm ducks down to avoid it.
Willhelm fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Nice defenses there by Morgan.
Morgan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Willhelm.
Willhelm takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Willhelm looks to throw the jab but Morgan is out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Morgan.

Morgan darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Willhelm pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Willhelm on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Morgan has his takedown stuffed
and Willhelm counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Willhelm takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Morgan. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
A jab from Morgan does it's job there.
Morgan fails to land the takedown.
Morgan shoots in looking for a takedown but Willhelm manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Morgan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Willhelm getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
No luck for Morgan with that takedown attempt.
Willhelm checks a low kick from Morgan.
Morgan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Willhelm defends it nicely.
Morgan tries for a takedown but Willhelm sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Morgan throws an overhand right that lands on Willhelm's shoulder, as Willhelm tries to avoid the shot.
Willhelm moves out of range as Morgan strikes.
Willhelm looks to score with a jab to the body but Morgan is just out of range.
Willhelm takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Morgan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Willhelm counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Morgan thinking.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Willhelm steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Morgan.
Willhelm stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Willhelm wants it to stay on the feet.
Willhelm throws a shot from downtown. Morgan moves away and avoids it.
Nice uppercut there from Morgan.
Willhelm ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Willhelm connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


Kenneth Morgan's cut is getting worse.
Morgan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Morgan throws a hook but Willhelm blocks it.
Morgan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Willhelm avoids it really well and circles away.
Morgan misses the shot to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Willhelm as Morgan shoots in.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A decent looking cross lands there for Morgan.
Willhelm thuds his right hand into Morgan's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Morgan misses with an uppercut

and Morgan is countered with a crisp right hand from Willhelm that sends him to the canvas! Willhelm follows him to the mat into side control.


Morgan is rocked!


Kenneth Morgan's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Morgan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Morgan tries to get out of the position.
I wouldn't like to be where Morgan is right now.
Morgan tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Willhelm controlling from the full mount.

Willhelm is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Morgan shoots in looking for a takedown. Willhelm tries to sprawl out of it but Morgan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Willhelm manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Morgan uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Willhelm has time to react.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Willhelm dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kenneth Morgan's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Morgan takes one on the button.
Morgan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Willhelm avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Morgan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Willhelm.
Morgan shoots for a takedown but Willhelm saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Willhelm connects with a combination that backs up Morgan into the cage. Willhelm lands a flurry of punches that gets past Morgan's guard. Morgan is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Willhelm bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Willhelm!
