Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randon Rett!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Penn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rett knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rett is trying to get back to half guard.

Penn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rett is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Penn trying to control the action but Rett is working from the bottom.

Rett tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Penn wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Penn controls the position.
Rett tries to bench press Penn off him but Penn keeps the position.
Penn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rett keeps working.
Rett is trying to work for a sweep but Penn has mounted him!

Well, if Penn is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Penn's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Penn is keen to just control but Rett is a slippery customer.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Penn wants to take a breather but Rett is having none of it.

Rett is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Penn pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rett tries to clinch but Penn moves away

and Penn counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Penn.
Penn postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Rett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Penn pushing down on Rett's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Penn wants to work for an arm triangle but Rett is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Penn drops an elbow to the side of Rett's head.

Penn seems to be working for a kimura but Rett defends the submission attempt.
Penn uses his free foot to push down on Rett's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rett.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rett is desperately trying to improve his position but Penn has a good base and remains in mount.
Penn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rett is looking to escape.

Penn working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Penn is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rett has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rett!
Rett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rett wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Penn is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Rett is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Penn is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Penn has escaped and now he's on top!

Rett looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Penn has picked Rett up and slammed him! Rett can't keep hold of the triangle and Penn manages to pass to side control!

Penn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Penn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Penn connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Penn scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Penn throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Rett works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Penn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rett defends it well.
Penn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rett keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Penn is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rett is surviving well by controlling Penn's body position as best he can.

Randon Rett has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Penn has control of Rett's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rett regains control of the situation pretty easily.
