PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dutch Schaeffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schaeffer comes into the arena with Long Tall Sally blaring out of the sound system. James is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Say my name. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dutch Schaeffer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jesse James!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schaeffer tries a head kick but it misses.
James scores with a nice head shot.
James tests Schaeffer's chin there with a solid looking shot.

James fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schaeffer sprawls well initially but James persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
James tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
James works his way into side control.
Schaeffer tries to buck James off but James is having none of it.
Schaeffer is working hard here to advance position.

James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
James works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James is trying to get an arm triangle but Schaeffer is defending well.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James is nestled in close to Schaeffer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

James seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schaeffer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

James tries to stand and escape but Schaeffer is controlling the position.

Schaeffer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but James pulls his head out easily.

James throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Schaeffer.


It looks like Dutch Schaeffer has been cut.
Schaeffer throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.
Schaeffer fakes the leg kick and cracks James in the body.
James looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Schaeffer fails in his attempt to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fight stays on the outside here - Schaeffer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A nice inside leg kick there by James. That's going to slow Schaeffer down.
James swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Schaeffer.
James throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Dutch Schaeffer's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Schaeffer counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.

Schaeffer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. James knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
James is looking to regain half guard here but Schaeffer keeps moving and retains side control.

Schaeffer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but James is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

James is trying to control Schaeffer's posture but Schaeffer avoids it.
James is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
James on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
James is trying to improve his position.
James manages to get back to half guard.
James is breathing heavily.

Schaeffer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Schaeffer wants to pass to mount but James is defending the position.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. James manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Schaeffer wants to get up but he can't break James's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Schaeffer has gone for a leg lock! James slips out almost immediately though and dives into Schaeffer's guard.

A short body shot lands from James as the two fighters clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from James.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Schaeffer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. James avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

James lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Schaeffer backwards.

James jumps into guard, dragging Schaeffer to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James looking for a triangle here. Schaeffer is fighting it but it looks tight! James pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Schaeffer is tapping out - this one is all over!
