The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derksen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Derksen looks for a takedown but Sparman sprawls well.
Derksen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sparman avoids it really well and circles away.
Derksen lands with an uppercut that bounces Sparman off the cage and back into rage.
Derksen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sparman swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerald Derksen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Derksen wants to clinch.
Derksen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sparman moves away.
Derksen throws a lazy uppercut
and Sparman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Derksen thinking.

Derksen doesn't manage to clinch there - Sparman circles away.
Derksen tries for a takedown but Sparman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Sparman counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Derksen is breathing heavily.
Sparman lands a nice looking body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sparman throws a series of punches but Derksen avoids them all with ease.
Sparman fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sparman connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Sparman sends Derksen crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sparman is motioning to the referee to let Derksen up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Derksen is rocked!
Sparman lands a big right hook! Derksen looks hurt but is still standing! Sparman lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Derksen falls down and Sparman dives in with a huge hammer fist! Derksen's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Sparman runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
