PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Dragunov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Jedard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragunov comes into the arena with Respirar você - Capital Inicial blaring out of the sound system. Jedard has chosen Creeping Death by Metallica as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jedard thows a left - swing and a miss!
Dragunov jabs at Jedard's body.
Jedard avoids the body shot from Dragunov.
Jedard bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jedard misses with a double jab.

It looks like Ivan Dragunov has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jedard moves into the clinch.
Dragunov gets through Jedard's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Dragunov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Jedard throws a right hand that Dragunov ducks under and follows up with a left that Dragunov also avoids with ease.
Dragunov circles away from the clinch attempt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Dragunov.

Jedard rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dragunov counters with a nice uppercut.
Jedard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dragunov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jedard throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dragunov counters with a head kick. That will keep Jedard thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Jedard swings for the body but Dragunov moves out of range.

Dragunov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Dragunov throws a shot to the body.
Jedard throws a looping overhand right but Dragunov ducks down to avoid it.
Dragunov throws a hook but Jedard blocks it.
Jedard throws a hook to the side of Dragunov's head but Dragunov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jedard takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Jedard tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Dragunov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Dragunov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Jedard takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Dragunov checks a leg kick.
Jedard is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Jedard wants to clinch.

Dragunov slips a jab from Jedard.
Jedard swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jedard fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Jedard doesn't manage to clinch there - Dragunov circles away.
Jedard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dragunov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Dragunov moves into the clinch.
Dragunov misses with a short punch on the inside.

Dragunov is trying to trip Jedard. He has hold of a leg but Jedard is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dragunov persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Jedard has control of Dragunov's left arm, preventing Dragunov from doing any damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Dragunov throws a body punch but Jedard moves out of range.

Dragunov has picked Jedard up - he's going for a ride! Dragunov dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Dragunov is looking for a kimura but Jedard is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dragunov to get the leverage.
Jedard is breathing heavily.
Dragunov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jedard does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dragunov wants to pass the guard but Jedard is defending well.

Dragunov works his foot free and advances to mount.

Dragunov has hold of Jedard's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jedard manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Jedard is trying desperately to improve position.
Jedard is squirming around, avoiding Dragunov's attempts to control the action.

Dragunov breaks from Jedard's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jedard tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dragunov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Jedard is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jedard is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jedard is still in real trouble! Can Dragunov finish him?
Oooooh, big shot lands for Dragunov! Jedard is hurt baaadly! Dragunov is firing away with more strikes - Jedard is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
