PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hyato Kimuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monkey Luffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monkey Luffy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Monkey Luffy!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luffy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kimuraba circles away.

Luffy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kimuraba throwing strikes from guard but Luffy blocks nicely.

Kimuraba drops back looking for a leg! Luffy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Luffy manages to kick Kimuraba off! Kimuraba jumps back into Luffy's guard.
Luffy looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kimuraba puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Luffy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kimuraba pulls his head out easily.
Kimuraba wants to lay and pray for a moment but Luffy keeps working.

Luffy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Luffy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kimuraba's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kimuraba's back!
Kimuraba turns into Luffy and is now in his guard.
Kimuraba trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kimuraba postures up and lands a big shot to Luffy's brow.

Luffy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kimuraba is aware though and is defending well.
Luffy throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Luffy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kimuraba distracts Luffy with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kimuraba got a little sloppy there for a moment and Luffy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kimuraba has managed to get both his arms back between Luffy's legs - danger averted.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Luffy can't keep his opponent in guard - Kimuraba advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kimuraba is pressing down on Luffy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Luffy is holding on for now.

Kimuraba wants to take a breather but Luffy is having none of it.

Luffy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kimuraba pulls his head out easily.

Kimuraba throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Kimuraba cracks Luffy with a big elbow.
Kimuraba looks up at the clock and then as Luffy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kimuraba smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kimuraba creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Luffy is trying to control Kimuraba's posture but Kimuraba avoids it.
Luffy tries to bench press Kimuraba off him but Kimuraba keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kimuraba sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Luffy is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kimuraba lands a decent elbow from side control.
Luffy tries to bench press Kimuraba off him but Kimuraba keeps the position.
Kimuraba lands an elbow.
Luffy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Kimuraba is looking to improve his position.
Kimuraba regains full guard. Nicely done.
Luffy wants to pass the guard but Kimuraba is keeping the position.
Kimuraba controls Luffy momentarily but Luffy frees himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kimuraba had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Luffy defends it easily.

Kimuraba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Luffy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hyato Kimuraba dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

No luck for Kimuraba with that takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Luffy feints and as Kimuraba raises his hands in defense, Luffy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Luffy stops Kimuraba from standing up.

Kimuraba looking for a triangle here. Luffy is fighting it but it looks tight! Kimuraba pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Luffy is tapping out - this one is all over!
