Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gibson Rickenbacker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Panagiotis Papadopoulos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rickenbacker has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Papadopoulos throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rickenbacker tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Papadopoulos is in Rickenbacker's guard.
Rickenbacker being controlled here, momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Papadopoulos pushes down on Rickenbacker's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Papadopoulos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rickenbacker's head.
Rickenbacker is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Papadopoulos seems content to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Let's hope that Papadopoulos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Panagiotis Papadopoulos wasn't active enough on the ground.

Papadopoulos has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rickenbacker is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Papadopoulos yanks on the arm and Rickenbacker is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Papadopoulos.
