PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kawaji Yokohiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chong Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kawaji Yokohiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chong Li!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yokohiro tries a head kick but it misses.
Yokohiro throws a head kick that misses.
Yokohiro ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Li moves away.

Li feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Yokohiro wants to stand up but Li is controlling him.

Li decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Yokohiro, up you get!
Li tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yokohiro swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Yokohiro fails to land with a series of punches.

Li drives through with a takedown into guard.
Li sitting in guard, not really doing much.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Li stands and steps away. Yokohiro gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Yokohiro misses with a few strikes there.

Li decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Li looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Yokohiro tries to kick Li off but Li keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Yokohiro is breathing heavily.
Li keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Chong Li hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Yokohiro swats away the attempt to clinch by Li.

Li pushes Yokohiro up against the ropes in a clinch.

Li works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Yokohiro can't keep his opponent in guard - Li advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Li works his way into full mount!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Li controlling the position easily from mount.

Li working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Yokohiro turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Li off and cradles Yokohiro's limp body as Li celebrates with his corner.
