Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luis Fierro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominick Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Fierro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominick Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz tries a head kick but it misses.
Cruz connects with a solid leg kick.
Cruz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Cruz throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Fierro.
Cruz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Fierro crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Cruz - the referee stops the clock and Fierro gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Cruz. Fierro manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Dominick Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cruz misses with a hook

and Fierro counters with a single leg into guard. Cruz didn't expect that.
Fierro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cruz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cruz has control of Fierro's left arm, preventing Fierro from doing any damage.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dominick Cruz wasn't active enough on the ground.
Cruz throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Luis Fierro has been cut.

Fierro closes the distance and pushes Cruz back into the cage.

Cruz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A nice leg kick lands there from Cruz.
Cruz connects with a leg kick. Fierro looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Cruz throws a sloppy head kick and Fierro moves out of range easily.
Fierro rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cruz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fierro throws a head kick that misses
and Cruz counters with a nice uppercut.
Fierro throws a head kick that misses
and Cruz counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Cruz fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Fierro takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cruz throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Fierro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cruz is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fierro.
Cruz throws a nice inside leg kick.
Fierro on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A slapping leg kick lands for Cruz.
Dominick Cruz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cruz feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Fierros jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fierro blocks a head kick by Cruz.

Fierro shoots in and bounces Cruz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Fierro is looking to stand up but Cruz won't let him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fierro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cruz keeping moving, preventing Fierro from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Luis Fierro just wasn't active enough.
A head kick by Fierro misses
and Cruz counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Cruz goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Good leg kick by Cruz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Fierro throws a sloppy head kick
and Cruz counters with a big head kick but Fierro shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cruz thows a body shot but no joy.
Cruz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Cruz lands a high kick!


Fierro is rocked!
Cruz lands a big head kick that sends Fierro to the canvas! Cruz follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dominick Cruz!
