PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Spiidi Haukka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Gray or perhaps it was just good defense by Haukka which made him look bad.
Gray has a takedown stuffed.

Gray gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gray jumps guard.

Gray had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Haukka is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gray Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Haukka's back instead.

Haukka is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gray gets his way!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gray has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Haukka can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Haukka wants to get up but he can't break Gray's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Gray has his foot on Haukka's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Haukka works his way back into a safe position though.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gray is on top in guard.
