The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from TheMan misses the target.
Penn swings for the body but TheMan moves out of range.
TheMan lands with a shot to the body.

Penn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but TheMan was well out of range. Poor timing from Penn.

TheMan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Stan TheMan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Penn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by TheMan.
TheMan misses with a right hand
and Penn counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for TheMan!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penn throws some wild stikes that TheMan manages to avoid easily.
TheMan slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Penn seems to be working for a kimura but TheMan defends the submission attempt.

Penn throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
TheMan is staying active underneath Penn, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Penn wants to pass to mount but TheMan is defending the position.
Penn is sneakily working for an arm triangle but TheMan sees it coming and defends easily.
TheMan wants to control but Penn is keeping busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if TheMan can do anything to dispel that myth.
TheMan tries to roll over but Penn keeps him under control.
Penn is trying to control the action in half guard but TheMan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Penn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Penn has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can TheMan defend it? Penn steps over the head and cranks it - TheMan is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Penn!
