PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Burnt Faceman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kilo Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faceman comes to the cage accompanied by Dirt Road Anthem. Jackson has chosen Inspectah Deck - Friction as his entrance music. Kilo Jackson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Burnt Faceman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kilo Jackson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Faceman quickly recovers to half guard.

Jackson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Faceman defends it well.

Jackson is working for a kimura but Faceman is defending it quite comfortably.
Faceman keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson seems to be looking for submissions.

Jackson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Faceman sees it coming and defends easily.
Faceman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Jackson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jackson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jackson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Faceman wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
Faceman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jackson is controlling him.

Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Faceman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Faceman holds on and takes a little breather.

Jackson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Faceman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Faceman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Faceman!

Faceman stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Faceman lands with a kick to the temple. Jackson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kilo Jackson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jackson pushes Faceman up against the cage in a clinch.
Faceman pushes off an throws an elbow but Jackson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Faceman pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Faceman tries a knee to the head but Jackson blocks it.

Jackson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Faceman using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jackson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Faceman just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jackson's brow.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Faceman.
Jackson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Faceman walks away with a smile on his face. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Faceman moves in looking to clinch but Jackson pushes him off.
Faceman throws a leg kick which misses Jackson's front leg but catches the back leg as Jackson tries to avoid it.

Faceman throws a push kick but Jackson slaps the foot to one side.

Jackson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Faceman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Faceman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Burnt Faceman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kilo Jackson.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Burnt Faceman dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Jackson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Faceman defends it nicely.

Faceman gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Jackson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Faceman smiles and moves away.
Jackson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Faceman dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jackson. That did some damage!

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Faceman, pushing him back against the cage.

Faceman pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Jackson tries to score a body lock takedown but Faceman shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Burnt Faceman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kilo Jackson.

Faceman is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jackson is defending well for now.

Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Faceman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Faceman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Faceman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jackson's guard.
