The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poebalunaka displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McDirk throws out the jab.
McDirk leaves Poebalunaka with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McDirk swats away the attempt to clinch by Poebalunaka.

and McDirk counters with a head kick. That will keep Poebalunaka thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Poebalunaka shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McDirk as he avoids it easily.
Xander McDirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Komuto Poebalunaka.

McDirk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Poebalunaka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McDirk is posturing up here but Poebalunaka has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! McDirk tries to roll out but it's too tight and McDirk has to tap! Slick submission there by Poebalunaka!
