Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lee Sawaguchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rampage Killson!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sawaguchi keeps the fight on the outside.
Killson throws a combination that misses
and Sawaguchi counters with a head kick. That will keep Killson thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Killson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Killson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sawaguchi gets full guard.
Killson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sawaguchi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Killson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rampage Killson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sawaguchi enables Killson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sawaguchi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Killson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like Killson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Sawaguchi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Killson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Sawaguchi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sawaguchi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Killson defends it easily.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Killson doesn't manage to clinch there - Sawaguchi circles away.
Sawaguchi plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Killson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sawaguchi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Killson lands a nice shot to the body.
Killson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Killson gets a takedown into half guard.
Killson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Killson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sawaguchi is just riding it out for now. Killson eventually gives up the hold.

Sawaguchi is looking to improve his position.
Killson is taking a breather. Sawaguchi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Killson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Killson moves in looking to clinch but Sawaguchi pushes him off.
Killson throws a right hand that Sawaguchi ducks under and follows up with a left that Sawaguchi also avoids with ease.
Sawaguchi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Killson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rampage Killson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sawaguchi is looking for a triangle but Killson pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Killson sitting in guard here, content to control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Rampage Killson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Killson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Killson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The fighters are battling for position here. Sawaguchi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Killson won't allow Sawaguchi to sweep him here.

Killson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Sawaguchi takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rampage Killson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Sawaguchi shoots and misses

Killson is staying tight to Sawaguchi's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rampage Killson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Killson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Killson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sawaguchi has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Killson but great work by Sawaguchi.

Sawaguchi moves into full mount!
Killson holds on to Sawaguchi as tight as he can, avoiding damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sawaguchi trying to control but Killson is having none of it.

Sawaguchi jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Killson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Killson and Sawaguchi has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Killson wants to clinch.
Killson misses with a body shot.
Sawaguchi just misses with a punch to the body.

Sawaguchi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Killson is working away from the top position though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Killson in particular looking to stall.
Killson is pressing down on Sawaguchi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sawaguchi is holding on for now.

Killson is trying to work for a kimura but Sawaguchi is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Killson controlling the pace.
Killson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Sawaguchi tries to roll over but Killson keeps him under control.
Killson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rampage Killson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Killson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rampage Killson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Killson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
