The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Frederik.
Richard Frederik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A left and a right from Frederik both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Dane Carter has been cut.
Carter moves out of range as Frederik throws a body kick.
Carter displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Frederik throws out the jab.
Carter chopping away at his opponent's legs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Frederik misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carter blocks a head kick by Frederik.
Frederik tries to clinch but Carter moves out of range.
Carter connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Carter.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Frederik is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Carter has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Carter landing strikes.
Frederik defending against the ground and pound.
Carter is working Frederik over with some ground and pound from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frederik tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
You get the feeling that Frederik really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Frederik is breathing heavily.
Carter postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Frederik looks a forlorn figure.
