Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grobokov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but johnson manages to avoid it.
Grobokov has his takedown stuffed

and johnson counters with a takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Grobokov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

johnson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Grobokov wants to clinch up but johnson keeps it at a distance.

Grobokov is trying to drag johnson to the mat but johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Grobokov swings for the body but johnson moves out of range.
Grobokov tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and johnson counters with a shoot takedown. Grobokov fights it but they end up in guard.

johnson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Grobokov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Grobokov has escaped the position, nice work there.

johnson is working Grobokov over with some ground and pound from side control.
johnson is staying tight to Grobokov's torso, preventing him from escaping.
johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grobokov keeps working.
johnson grinds an elbow into Grobokov's temple.

johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Grobokov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

johnson has hold of Grobokov's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Grobokov tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - johnson cranks the arm and Grobokov screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Grobokov, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
