PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hammera Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Tua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Head tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tua swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Head wants to clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Tua is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hammera Head seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Head closes the distance but Tua moves to the side

and Tua moves into the clinch.

Head manages to break the clinch.
Head has a takedown stuffed.
Tua throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tua tries to clinch up.

Tua closes the distance and clinches.
Head looking to throw knees to the head but Tua is blocking nicely.
Tua wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Head breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tua throws a right and a left that Head avoids nicely.
Head looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Tua fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Head, pushing him back against the cage.
Head with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Head breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Head closes the distance but Tua moves to the side
and Tua counters with a stiff right hand.
Tua tries to clinch there but Head circles away.
Head looks to clinch

Tua wants to break free but Head has control.
Tua lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Head escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Tua holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Head manages to break the clinch.
David Tua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The fight stays on the outside here - Tua looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Tua drives through and clinches with Head against the cage.

Head breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Head darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Tua flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Head is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Tua wants to control but Head is keeping busy.
Tua tries to kick Head off but Head keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Head will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Head is breathing heavily.
Head tries to pass to full mount but Tua defends it.
Head prevents Tua from standing back up.

Tua wants to improve his position but Head is controlling well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Head closes the distance but Tua moves to the side

and Tua counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tua.

Head really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Head lands a head kick. Tua smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Head shoots in looking for a takedown. Tua tries to sprawl out of it but Head keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tua manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hammera Head. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A left and a right from Tua both land. Nice combination.
Head shoots for a double leg takedown but Tua sprawls well. He's pushed Head's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Head lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Tua crumples to the floor! Head milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
