PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Allan Von Reinar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Von Reinar comes to the cage accompanied by Iron Maiden - Fear of the dark. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Allan Von Reinar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Larry Burns!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Von Reinar walks into a left hand.
Von Reinar moves away from the strike by Burns.
Burns throws a right hand that misses

and Von Reinar counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Von Reinar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Burns is controlling Von Reinar's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Von Reinar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Burns avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Von Reinar.
Von Reinar wants to control but Burns is keeping him busy.
Von Reinar wants to free his trapped foot but Burns is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Burns shoots in looking for a takedown. Von Reinar tries to sprawl out of it but Burns keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Von Reinar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Von Reinar throws a series of punches but Burns avoids them all with ease.

Larry Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Von Reinar moves in looking to clinch but Burns pushes him off.

and Von Reinar counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
The fighters circling - Burns throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

No joy there for Von Reinar, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Burns wants to pass the guard but Von Reinar is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Von Reinar has Burns pulled in close to control his posture.
Von Reinar keeping moving, preventing Burns from controlling successfully.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Burns looks to land a left hand but Von Reinar moved out of range nicely.

and Burns makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Allan Von Reinar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A looping hook to the body misses from Burns. Von Reinar does a little dance to reset his feet.
Von Reinar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Burns's waist but Burns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Von Reinar off to one side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Larry Burns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Burns misses the body punch
and Von Reinar counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Burns throws a combination. Von Reinar tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
A shot to the liver by Burns. Beautiful body shot.
Von Reinar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Burns manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Von Reinar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Burns circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Burns enables Von Reinar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Burns manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Von Reinar wants to pass the guard but Burns is keeping the position.

Von Reinar tries to free his leg and advance position but Burns is retaining full guard.
Von Reinar looking to sit in guard and control but Burns gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Burns throws a strike but Von Reinar rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Allan Von Reinar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Burns can't keep his opponent in guard - Von Reinar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Burns trying to get back to full guard but Von Reinar takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Burns is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Von Reinar gets his way!

Von Reinar slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Von Reinar lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Burns is holding onto Von Reinar's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.
Burns is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Von Reinar has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Burns is in real trouble here. Von Reinar gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Burns is tapping out! Von Reinar wins by rear naked choke!
