PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charon Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker's entrance music is The Doors - Peace Frog. A fine choice. On his way into the cage it seems that Jack Walker has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jack Walker seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Walker!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charon Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hawkins tries to clinch up
and Walker counters with a series of strikes. Hawkins will be more careful next time no doubt.
Walker fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Walker goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Charon Hawkins has been cut.
Walker circles away from the clinch attempt
and Walker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hawkins takes a swing at Walker's ribcage but misses.
Hawkins lands a leg kick that knocks Walker off balance momentarily.
Walker fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walker moves out of range of the strikes.
Nice sprawl there from Walker as Hawkins shoots in.
Horrible takedown by Hawkins or perhaps it was just good defense by Walker which made him look bad.
Hawkins moves forwards but Walker connects with a nice, crisp jab.

and Walker counters with a straight right hand.

Jack Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charon Hawkins.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hawkins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Walker walks away with a smile on his face. Hawkins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hawkins throws a hook but Walker avoids it easily.
A slapping leg kick lands for Walker.
Hawkins wants to clinch up but Walker keeps it at a distance.
Walker scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hawkins in his tracks.

and Walker counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Hawkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Walker throws a right and a left that Hawkins avoids nicely.
Hawkins tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Walker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hawkins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hawkins's corner calls for a 1-2. Hawkins obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Hawkins is looking to clinch but Walker is avoiding it.
Walker feints a jab promting Hawkins to slip. Walker then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hawkins slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Walker moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Hawkins wants to clinch up but Walker keeps it at a distance.
Walker fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hawkins has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

The fighters are battling for position here. Walker manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Walker keeping moving, preventing Hawkins from controlling successfully.
Walker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hawkins's guard.
Walker is stalling in the full guard.
Walker with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Walker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hawkins throws a body punch but Walker moves out of range.

Walker scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Walker keeps Hawkins at a distance using the push kick.
Walker takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Walker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hawkins.
Walker swats away the attempt to clinch by Hawkins.
Walker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hawkins.
Walker throws a sloppy head kick and Hawkins moves out of range easily.

and Walker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Walker throws a good cross that connects.

Walker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Walker is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hawkins will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Hawkins seems to be working for a kimura but Walker defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hawkins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Walker is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hawkins has his hands clasped together but Walker extends an breaks Hawkins's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Walker.
