The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tayber moves away.
Ward shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tayber as he avoids it easily.
No luck for Tayber with that takedown attempt.
Tayber lands with an uppercut that bounces Ward off the cage and back into rage.
Tayber fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Tayber getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Tayber scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tayber thuds his shin into the meat of Ward's side.

Tayber has closed the distance and engaged Ward in a clinch.

Ward fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Jebidiah Tayber has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Ward.

Ward tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tayber just stands there and leans against the cage.
Ward is trying to drag Tayber to the mat but Tayber just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

It looks like Mario Ward has been cut.
Ward goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Tayber gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ward.
Tayber lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Ward fails to pull guard.

Tayber has picked Ward up - he's going for a ride! Tayber dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tayber works his way into side control.
Ward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tayber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ward is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tayber's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Tayber! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Ward has tapped! This one is allllll over!
