PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dp Tatum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Quim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatum comes to the cage accompanied by Motorhead - The Game. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dp Tatum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Quim!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quim misses with an uppercut. Tatum saw that one coming.
Tatum blocks a leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Quim. No joy for Tatum on that attempt.

Tatum moves into the clinch.
Quim stops a takedown attempt from Tatum.
Quim tries to circle away but Tatum has him pinned against the cage.
Quim is looking to break free of the clinch but Tatum has double underhooks.

Tatum pulls guard effortlessly.
Quim won't allow Tatum to sweep him here.
Tatum lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Quim!
Tatum content just to control the position here.
Tatum's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Quim really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Tatum takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Quim is really stuck here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tatum just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Tatum seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Quim for as long as he can get away with.
Tatum has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Dp Tatum has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Tatum tries to clinch there but Quim circles away.

Quim gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tatum passes Quim's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Tatum works his way into side control.
Tatum controlling the position from side mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dp Tatum dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tatum swings for the body but Quim moves out of range.
Tatum misses with a takedown attempt - Quim sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Quim connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Tatum's hands.
Quim throws a looping overhand right but Tatum ducks down to avoid it.
Tatum fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Quim avoids it really well and circles away.
Quim thows a body shot but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tatum avoids the body shot from Quim.
Horrible takedown by Tatum or perhaps it was just good defense by Quim which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dp Tatum. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Quim attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Tatum bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee asks Tatum politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tatum prefers to stall for the moment though.
Quim is trying to get back to his feet.
Quim seems a little lost for a moment, as Tatum dominates the positioning.
Tatum has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Quim!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dp Tatum.
Quim displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tatum.
Nice sprawl there from Quim as Tatum shoots in.
Tatum looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Tatum forces Quim back against the cage and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Quim breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Quim is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Tatum.
Quim leaves Tatum with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tatum steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Quim.
Quim finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Quim swings widly with a right hand
and Tatum counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tatum.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Quim tried to score with a low kick but Tatum checks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dp Tatum dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Quim dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Quim throws a poor cross that misses

and Tatum counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Tatum wants to control from the top but Quim keeps moving.
Tatum stands and throws Quim's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Tatum tries to move to mount but Quim blocks the move with his legs.
Tatum is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quim is not content to let Tatum control the position.
Tatum controlling the position from side mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dp Tatum.
Tatum closes the distance and clinches up with Quim, looking for a takedown. Tatum pushes Quim against the cage but Quim circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tatum is defended easily by Quim.
Quim attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Quim connects with a crisp jab.
Tatum avoids a punch combination nicely.
Quim throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quim scores with a hook to the body. Tatum takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Quim lands a nice hook to Tatum's body. Tatum takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

and Quim connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dp Tatum. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tatum tries to clinch there but Quim circles away.
Tatum takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Tatum shoots for a takedown but Quim saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tatum dives in and grabs Quim's left leg, looking for a takedown. Quim pushes down on Tatum's head and hops out.
Quim throws a nice looking combination but Tatum bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Quim. Tatum does a little dance to reset his feet.
Quim looks to score with a jab to the body but Tatum is just out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tatum fails with an attempt to clinch.
Tatum gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Tatum avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Quim throws a good cross that connects.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tatum checks a low kick from Quim.
Quim sizes up Tatum with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Jimmy Quim is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tatum pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Quim throws a leg kick but Tatum checks it.
Quim scores with a hook.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jimmy Quim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tatum has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
