Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bart Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hart has chosen Vertigo - U2 as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bart Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bret Hart!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Eddie Farnsworth and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin slips under a jab from Hart.
Hart feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Griffins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


It looks like Bart Griffin has been cut.
Hart looks to land a left hand but Griffin moved out of range nicely.
A swing and a miss from Hart.
Griffin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Griffin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A punch combination from Hart misses.
Hart misses with a shot to the body
and Hart takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Griffin throws a leg kick but Hart moved away.
Hart lands with a nice combination. Griffin backs away looking to recover.

Hart closes the distance and clinches.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Hart as Griffin tries to tie him up.
A frustrated look appears on Hart's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hart lands a body punch in the clinch.
Hart is looking to break free of the clinch but Griffin has double underhooks.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Hart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hart swings widly with a right hand
and Hart takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Griffin takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Hart drives through with a takedown into Griffin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hart wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hart really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hart throws a strike but Griffin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Griffin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hart does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hart tries to get to full guard but Griffin has control of the leg.
Griffin wants to pass the guard but Hart is defending well.
Hart has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Griffin is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin seems to be working for a kimura but Hart defends the submission attempt.
Griffin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Griffin stands up over Hart, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hart shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Griffin tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Griffin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Griffin.

Hart throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Griffin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hart must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Griffin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hart gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Griffin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hart trying to control the position from guard on top but Griffin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hart lands a couple of elbows.
Hart in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hart throws a big right hand that misses.
Hart passes Griffin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hart takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hart lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Oh Griffin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hart wants to take a breather but Griffin is having none of it.
Bret Hart has got the better of the ground game so far.

Griffin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hart is working away from the top position though.
Hart seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Griffin is looking to control Hart's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Griffin avoid being mounted?
Hart scores with a big shot! Griffin's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Griffin! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
