PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Parker Gloves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willey Star (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gloves kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Drop the Bombshell - Powerman 5000. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Star throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gloves fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Star tries to bum rush Gloves with a series of wild strikes but Gloves uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Star shoots in looking for a takedown but Gloves manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Star's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gloves's corner calls for a 1-2. Gloves obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Gloves scores with a nice head shot.
A big left from Star misses.
Star swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Gloves counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Star has his takedown stuffed
and Gloves counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Star will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Star doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Gloves counter with a right hand.
Parker Gloves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willey Star.

Star moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Gloves takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gloves lands a slapping body shot.
Gloves scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Gloves lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gloves throws a combination. Star tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Gloves's jab looks to have found its range, popping Star under the eye.
Gloves lands a right hook to the body.
Star takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gloves lands with a good body shot.

Gloves lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Star at a distance.

Gloves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Star was covering up waiting for the punch and Gloves finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Star can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gloves stands and throws Star's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Gloves advances to full mount.
Gloves fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Star tries to buck Gloves off but he can't manage it.

Star defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gloves.
Gloves takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gloves seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Star for as long as he can get away with.
Star is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Star has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Gloves just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Gloves has got one arm under Star's chin. This could be trouble... Star trying to control the other hand but Gloves gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Star has tapped out! The fight is over!
