PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and LeRon Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Go Hard or Go Home. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, LeRon Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace misses the shot to the body.
Jenkins scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Jenkins keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wallace moves in looking to clinch but Jenkins pushes him off.
Wallace tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jenkins paws at him with a jab and circles away.
LeRon Jenkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wallace throws a left and a right that both miss

and Jenkins counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jenkins.
Wallace looking for a sweep. Not yet Wallace, not yet.

Wallace has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jenkins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wallace ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jenkins moves away.

Jenkins works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Jenkins is looking to take a break and control but Wallace is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jenkins is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wallace knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Wallace is trying to control Jenkins's posture but Jenkins avoids it.

Jenkins decides to stand back up. Jenkins steps back and let's Wallace get back to his feet.

Wallace is trying to maintain the position but Jenkins is very close to passing his half guard.
Wallace moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wallace is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Wallace pulls Jenkins in to control the position.
Wallace is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jenkins looks like he's trying to stand up.
Wallace with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Wallace decides to stand and escape the position.
Wallace tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jenkins swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Wallace has managed to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

LeRon Jenkins dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wallace swats away the attempt to clinch by Jenkins.
Wallace fakes the leg kick and cracks Jenkins in the body.
Jenkins tries to clinch but Wallace moves away
and Wallace counters with a nice leg kick.

Jenkins cracks a nice hook into Wallace's ribs.

Wallace throws a head kick but Jenkins moves out of range.
Wallace tries to clinch but Jenkins is having none of it.

Wallace drives through and clinches with Jenkins against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wallace escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jenkins shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Wallace holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Wallace wants to control but Jenkins is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jenkins tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wallace knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jenkins lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Wallace controlling the position well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wallace kicks off Jenkins and gets to his feet.

and Jenkins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wallace's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wallace tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Wallace pushes Jenkins off and gets back to his feet.

Jenkins shoots in and drives through. Wallace sprawls well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wallace.

Jenkins needs to keep his hands up - Wallace had a free shot at his head there.

Wallace is looking to wear down Jenkins with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Jenkins has had enough of the clinch but Wallace keeps him there for the moment.
Jenkins wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Jenkins is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wallace pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Jenkins has Wallace pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wallace manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jenkins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wallace lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wallace swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wallace has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Wallace decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Wallace makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Wallace on the wrong end of a nice jab.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jenkins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wallace paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jenkins cracks Wallace with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jenkins lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Wallace shoots for a takedown but Jenkins saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to LeRon Jenkins.
I think Jenkins has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
