PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Flynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doctor Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Doctor Turk was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flynn shoots in for a takedown but Turk shows good takedown defense.
Turk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Flynn misses with a body kick.

Phil Flynn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doctor Turk.
Flynn fails to land with a series of punches.

Turk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Flynn sprawls well initially but Turk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Turk is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Flynn!
Turk wants to control the pace but Flynn is squirming around nicely.
You get the feeling that Flynn really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Turk avoids the attempt from Flynn to control.

Turk might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Flynn kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Flynn throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Flynn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Turk on the ground.
Turk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Flynn is looking to escape.
Flynn on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Flynn tries to get out of the position.
Flynn has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Turk's lack of action.

Turk is working for a submission of some sort.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Turk misses with a takedown attempt - Flynn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Turk looks gassed!
Flynn closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Turk should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Flynn stuffs the takedown.
Flynn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Turk tries to close the distance and clinch but Flynn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Turk fails in his attempt to clinch.
Flynn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Turk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Flynn but Flynn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Flynn drives through and clinches with Turk against the cage.
Flynn is looking to break free of the clinch but Turk has double underhooks.
Turk prevents a takedown attempt there.
Turk tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Flynn just stands there and leans against the cage.
Flynn is pressed up against the cage. Turk has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Flynn down to the mat. Flynn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Turk closes this distance looking for a takedown but Flynn circles away.
Turk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Turk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Turk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Turk seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Flynn is holding on tight.
Turk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Flynn is looking to escape.

Turk looking to secure an arm triangle but Flynn defends it well.

Turk working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Flynn turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Turk off and cradles Flynn's limp body as Turk celebrates with his corner.
