Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Charles Barclay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Barclay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johny Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barclay closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hendricks did well to prevent Barclay getting side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Barclay is nestled in close to Hendricks, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hendricks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hendricks regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Barclay.
Barclay throwing strikes but missing.

Hendricks has a closed guard, preventing Barclay from standing up.
Barclay has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Barclay tries to free his leg and advance position but Hendricks is retaining full guard.

Hendricks pushes Barclay off and scrambles back to his feet.

Barclay connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hendricks fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barclay avoids it really well and circles away.
Barclay scores with a one two! Hendricks had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Barclay shoots for a double leg takedown but Hendricks sprawls well. He's pushed Barclay's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Barclay is looking to clinch but Hendricks is avoiding it.

Hendricks darts in and clinches Barclay up against the cage.

Hendricks manages to pull guard.

Hendricks has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Barclay off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Good leg kick by Hendricks there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Barclay fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hendricks to the ground. Barclay is now in Hendricks's guard.
Barclay is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hendricks has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Barclay off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Hendricks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Barclay tries to lock up and control but Hendricks gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Barclay on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barclay tries to get out of the position.

Barclay is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hendricks controlling his opponent.
Barclay keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hendricks wants to control the pace but Barclay is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Barclay is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johny Hendricks will probably get the nod.

Hendricks shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hendricks circles away from the clinch attempt

and Hendricks counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hendricks.
Hendricks gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Barclay.
Barclay jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hendricks walks away with a smile on his face. Barclay gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Hendricks decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hendricks wants to take a breather but Barclay is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Johny Hendricks.
Barclay stuffs the takedown.
Barclay tries for a takedown but Hendricks sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charles Barclay. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Barclay counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barclay with the ground and pound but Hendricks regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Barclay not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Barclay is looking to pass Hendricks's guard but actually Hendricks recovers to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barclay working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Hendricks pushes Barclay off and scrambles back to his feet.
Barclay misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hendricks lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barclay circles away quickly and effectively.

Barclay wants to clinch up but Hendricks keeps it at a distance.
Hendricks walks into a stiff left hand from Barclay.
Hendricks throws a shot from downtown. Barclay moves away and avoids it.
Hendricks has a takedown stuffed.
Barclay scores with a jab.

Hendricks drives through with a takedown into Barclay's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hendricks is stalling in the full guard.
Barclay keeping moving, preventing Hendricks from controlling successfully.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hendricks won't allow Barclay to get back to his feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Johny Hendricks hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hendricks has picked Barclay up - he's going for a ride! Hendricks dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johny Hendricks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Hendricks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barclay as he avoids it easily.

Hendricks clinches with his opponent.

Hendricks turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hendricks manages to end up in side control.
Hendricks trying to control the action but Barclay is working from the bottom.

Hendricks stands up and beckons Barclay to his feet.
Barclay bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hendricks's head backwards.
Johny Hendricks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barclay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hendricks tries to avoid it but Barclay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hendricks to the ground. Hendricks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hendricks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barclay moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Barclay gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hendricks controlling from the top position.

Hendricks decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Barclay dips to his left and cracks Hendricks with an uppercut!
Barclay tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hendricks swivels and escapes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hendricks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hendricks lands a big elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barclay wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Hendricks looking to control but Barclay is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Hendricks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Barclay is looking to escape.
Hendricks sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Johny Hendricks.

Hendricks moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hendricks pulls guard successfully.
Barclay with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Barclay wants to stand and escape but instead Hendricks has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hendricks keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Barclay's head.
Johny Hendricks is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Hendricks content to stall in guard here.
Barclay looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Johny Hendricks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hendricks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
