The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maafala uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tepes.
Maafala clinches up with Tepes and pushes him back against the cage.
Maafala is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tepes gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Maafala is working for takedown but Tepes is calmly controlling the position for now.
Maafala has clasped his hands together around Tepes's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Tepes tries to buck Maafala off but Maafala is having none of it.
Maafala scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Tepes to see if he's OK.

Maafala looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maafala drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tepes dives on top into guard.
Tepes is fighting to break Maafala's control of his arms but Maafala is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Tepes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Maafala defends it easily.

Maafala is nestled in close to Tepes, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Maafala looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tepes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Maafala, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
