PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Jayme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jose Azevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Keith Jayme!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azevedo tries to clinch but Jayme is having none of it.
Keith Jayme seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Azevedo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jayme swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The crowd cheers as Jayme lands an impressive looking overhand right. Azevedo doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Jose Azevedo has been cut.
Azevedo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Azevedo looks to clinch
and Jayme counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Jayme misses with the combination.
Jayme thuds his right hand into Azevedo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Azevedo tries to clinch but Jayme moves out of range.
Azevedo closes the distance but Jayme moves to the side
and Jayme counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jayme misses with a double jab

and Azevedo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jayme controlling the position for now.
Jayme wants to get back to his feet.
Well, if Azevedo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jayme moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Azevedo won't allow Jayme to get back to his feet.
Jayme has a closed guard, preventing Azevedo from standing up.

Jayme looking to hit a scissor sweep but Azevedo is one step ahead there.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Azevedo working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jayme misses with a combination

and Azevedo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Azevedo swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Jayme blocks an uppercut.
Jayme is trying to force a seperation but Azevedo has the dominant position.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Azevedo.
Azevedo lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jayme or not.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nice body punch from Azevedo - that landed with a thud.

Jayme can't break the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jayme misses with a combination

and Azevedo counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Jayme wants to get back to striking at distance but Azevedo won't allow it.
Azevedo lands with a short shot to the head.
Jayme is trying to break the clinch but Azevedo is controlling him.

Azevedo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jayme's efforts to push away.
Azevedo makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.


It looks like Keith Jayme has been cut.

Jayme's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Azevedo tries to clinch
and Jayme connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

so Azevedo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Azevedo stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jayme misses with a hook to the body

and Azevedo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Azevedo lands with a light punch inside.
Jayme wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jayme blocking some punches.
Azevedo misses with a punch to the body.
Azevedo is pushing Jayme up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Azevedo swings wildly with an uppercut but Jayme uses good head movement to avoid it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Azevedo - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Azevedo lands an uppercut.
Azevedo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jayme is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Azevedo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jayme avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jayme has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jayme looking to slow down the pace here.
Azevedo is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Azevedo softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Azevedo dominated that second round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Jayme fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Azevedo manages to avoid it.

Azevedo clinches.
A nice left hand lands by Azevedo.
The referee calls for Jayme to work.
Azevedo is struggling to control the position.
Still in the clinch, Azevedo scores with a nice short uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Azevedo is trying to trip Jayme. He has hold of a leg but Jayme is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Azevedo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jayme is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Azevedo tries to stand but Jayme is controlling from the bottom.
Jayme tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Azevedo with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jayme is looking to stand up but Azevedo isn't so interested in that idea.
Jayme is adopting a defensive guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Azevedo is looking to stand up but Jayme won't let him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jayme wants to stand but Azevedo is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jayme misses with the combination.
Azevedo tries to clinch up but Jayme circles away and keeps his distance.
Jayme throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Azevedo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Azevedo doesn't manage to clinch there - Jayme circles away.
Jayme scores with a hook to the body. Azevedo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
A right-left combo lands from Jayme.
Jayme connects with a body shot that sends Azevedo's belly button to the back.
The fight stays on the outside here - Azevedo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jayme misses with a body shot.
Keith Jayme seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jayme. Azevedo does a little dance to reset his feet.

Azevedo tries to clinch but Jayme is having none of it.
Azevedo tries to clinch up but Jayme circles away and keeps his distance.
Azevedo closes the distance but Jayme moves to the side
and Jayme counters with a stiff right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jose Azevedo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jayme thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jayme misses with a series of wild punches.
Azevedo darts in trying to clinch
and Jayme counters with a series of strikes. Azevedo will be more careful next time no doubt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Keith Jayme comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jayme has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
