Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Doug McSwain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rik McRae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McSwain's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Jack Thammarat - My Headache Song. The crowd seem to be enjoying McRae's choice of entrance music: Slipknot - Before I Forget. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McSwain lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

McSwain clinches.
McRae blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
McSwain tries to land knees in the clinch but McRae avoids the damage to the body.
McSwain is looking to break free of the clinch but McRae has double underhooks.
McRae blocks an elbow strike from McSwain.
McRae drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McSwain gets the underhooks and prevents it.
McSwain gets through McRae's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
McSwain prevents a body shot from McRae.
McRae's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
McSwain misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from McRae.

McRae breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd cheers as McSwain lands an impressive looking overhand right. McRae doesn't seem phased though.
McSwain throws a right and a left that McRae avoids nicely.
McRae pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McRae changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

and McRae counters with a left to the body.
McRae tried to score with a low kick but McSwain checks it.
McRae misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McSwain.

McSwain throws a hook to the side of McRae's head but McRae sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

McSwain closes the distance and clinches.
McSwain is pushing McRae up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
McRae stalling in the clinch but McSwain improves position.

McRae breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McRae fakes the leg kick and cracks McSwain in the body.

McSwain swings wildly with an uppercut but McRae uses good head movement to avoid it.

McRae manages to break the clinch.
McSwain tries to clinch up but McRae circles away and keeps his distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - McSwain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McRae avoids the body shot from McSwain.

Doug McSwain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McSwain cracks McRae with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


It looks like Rik McRae has been cut.

and McRae cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McSwain throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McRae counters with a nice leg kick.
McRae fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
McRae ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


McRae tries a head kick but it misses.
A nice inside leg kick there by McRae. That's going to slow McSwain down.
McSwain lands the left hand.
McSwain has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McRae finds it's way round the side to connect with McSwain's head.
McSwain lands with a shot to the body.
McSwain throws a one two combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McSwain throws a hook but McRae avoids it easily.
McRae keeps the fight on the outside.
Doug McSwain is winning the standup battle so far.
McRae moves out of range of the strikes.

McSwain misses with a body shot
and McRae counters with a nice low kick that buckles McSwain's knee momentarily.
McSwain lands a jab to McRae's midsection.
McRae is breathing heavily.
McSwain misses with a right hand
and McRae counters with a straight right hand.
McRae does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
McSwain throws a jab when McRae was well out of range.
McSwain misses with a right hand
and McRae counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
McSwain rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McRae counters with a leg kick.
McSwain throws a jab but it's blocked by McRae.
A nice leg kick lands there from McRae.
McRae fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McSwain has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

McSwain rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McSwain takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McSwain jabs at McRae's body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McSwain tries to close the distance and clinch up but McRae swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McSwain is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
McRae fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McSwain.
McSwain fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McRae manages to avoid it.
McRae feints and then cracks McSwain's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McSwain down.
McSwain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McSwain takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
McSwain tries to clinch up but McRae circles away and keeps his distance.
McSwain throws a poor cross that misses
and McRae counters with a lovely straight right hand!
McRae throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

McRae dodges the punch combination from McSwain.

McSwain tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McRae was well out of range. Poor timing from McSwain.

McSwain darts in and clinches McRae up against the cage.

McSwain breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McSwain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McRae.
McSwain darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
McRae is looking to land body kicks.
McSwain takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
McSwain throws a shot from downtown. McRae moves away and avoids it.

McSwain throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
McSwain throws a jab but it's blocked by McRae.
McRae throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by McSwain.
A telegraphed right hand from McSwain misses the target.
McRae circles away from the clinch attempt.
McSwain misses the jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McSwain fails with an attempt to clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McSwain swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
McSwain ducks under a wild hook from McRae.
McRae thuds his right hand into McSwain's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


McSwain tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McRae was well out of range. Poor timing from McSwain.

McSwain shoots in looking for a takedown but McRae manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McSwain's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

McRae lands a glancing blow to the side of McSwain's head.
McRae avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McSwain throws an off balance right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
McSwain misses with a takedown attempt - McRae sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McRae takes a swing at McSwain's ribcage but misses.

McSwain fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McRae looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
McSwain throws an overhand right that lands on McRae's shoulder, as McRae tries to avoid the shot.
McRae looks to score with a jab to the body but McSwain is just out of range.
McSwain misses with a jab to the body
and McRae makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. McSwain really felt that one!

McRae lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McSwain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McRae.

McRae shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McRae throws a low kick but McSwain moves out of range easily.
McSwain just misses with a punch to the body.

McRae throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
McSwain misses with a few strikes there.

The fight stays on the outside here - McSwain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McSwain blocks the body kick.
McRae takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
McSwain is looking to clinch but McRae is avoiding it.

McSwain closes the distance and pushes McRae back into the cage.
Come on McSwain - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

McSwain is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

McSwain lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
McSwain wants to break the clinch but can't.

McRae breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rik McRae has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
McSwain misses with a few strikes there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for McRae.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A solid leg kick lands there for McRae.
McSwain misses with a telegraphed body shot
and McRae counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McRae turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
McRae steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McSwain.
Doug McSwain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McRae displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McSwain throws out the jab.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Doug McSwain.
Well McSwain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
