PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dom Madden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Winston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Winston has chosen This Life by Curtis Stigers & The Forest Rangers as his entrance music. Harry Winston told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madden wants to clinch but Winston slips to the side
and Winston counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Dom Madden has been cut.
Winston ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Madden moves to clinch but Winston breaks away
and Winston counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Madden throws a head kick that misses.
Winston blocks a head kick by Madden.
Winston turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Madden wants to clinch
and Winston makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Madden is breathing heavily.
Madden takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Winston lands a nice looking body shot.
Winston fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Madden.
Winston lands a right hook to the body.
Winston lands with a thumping leg kick.
Winston fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Winston stuns Madden with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Winston works Madden's body with a nice hook.
Winston uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Madden has time to react.

Madden tries to move into range but Winston moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Winston bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Madden throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Madden takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Madden on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Madden stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Winston.
Madden with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Winston to score with a decent uppercut.
Madden darts in trying to clinch
and Winston counters with a good low kick that Madden was not able to check.

Winston connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Madden's hands.
Winston is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Winston thumps Madden with a low kick.
Winston lands a jab to the nose.
Winston looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Madden takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Winston lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Madden circles away quickly and effectively.
Winston misses with a double jab.
Winston throws a low kick but Madden moves out of range easily.
Winston scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Madden walks into a stiff left hand from Winston.
Winston lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Madden backs up against the cage.
Winston lands a nice shot to the body.

A chopping leg kick lands by Winston.
Winston lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Winston.
Winston moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Madden tries to clinch but Winston moves away
and Winston counters with a slapping leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Madden moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

and Winston counters with a one-two to the body.
Winston lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

and Winston counters with a crisp one two that drops Madden! Winston thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Madden to his feet! Madden is in big trouble!

Madden is rocked!

Dom Madden's cut is getting worse.

Winston lands with a cross.
Oh Madden is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Winston is looking to chop away at Madden's legs.
Madden seems to have got his legs back now.
Winston comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Winston is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Madden rather than just go for the knockout.

Winston lands a big right hand that sends Madden crashing to the mat! Winston stays standing though and waves Madden back to his feet!
Madden walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Winston ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Winston lands a leg kick that knocks Madden off balance momentarily.
A shot to the liver by Winston. Beautiful body shot.
Madden is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Winston moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Harry Winston!
