PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Crow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernado Tavares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tavares has chosen All Of The Lights as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jack Crow has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Crow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernado Tavares!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crow clinches.
Crow jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tavares walks away with a smile on his face. Crow gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Tavares decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Crow's guard.

Crow wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Tavares manages to pass to side control.

Crow has Tavares up against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Tavares has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Crow's body.
Tavares's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fernado Tavares showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Crow swings away with a body shot that misses

and Tavares counters with a nice double leg into side control. Crow won't be happy with that.
Crow is trying to buck Tavares off.
Tavares is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Crow is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tavares is controlling him well.

Fernado Tavares has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Tavares closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Crow did well to prevent Tavares getting side control.

Tavares content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fernado Tavares wasn't active enough on the ground.
Crow swings widly with a right hand
and Tavares makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Crow gets a clinch.
Crow looking for a takedown.
Crow is trying to push Tavares away but Tavares has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Crow wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tavares has him pressed against the cage.
Tavares wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Tavares.

Crow has had enough of the clinch but Tavares keeps him there for the moment.
Crow tries for a takedown but Tavares manages to get underhooks.
Tavares keeps control of Crow as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Tavares fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Crow, pushing him back against the cage.
Crow tries to pull guard but Tavares won't allow it.

Crow tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Nice body punch from Tavares - that landed with a thud.

Tavares turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tavares manages to end up in side control.

Jack Crow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Fernado Tavares comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tavares has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
