The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Date swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Date looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Date persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Jones lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jones is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Date is forced to tap! Great finish!
