Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Maurice McDonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, William Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald throws out a powerful jab.
McDonald rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Joseph connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Joseph uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McDonald.
McDonald swings widly with a right hand

and Joseph counters with a single leg into guard. McDonald didn't expect that.
Joseph pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McDonald is keeping the position for now.
Joseph in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
McDonald on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McDonald tries to get out of the position.
McDonald keeping moving, preventing Joseph from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDonald seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McDonald fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Joseph manages to avoid it.
McDonald misses with a jab to the body
and Joseph counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Joseph thows a leg kick but McDonald checks it
letting McDonald counter with a right hand.
Joseph gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
McDonald ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

McDonald swings away with a body shot that misses

and Joseph counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Joseph seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Joseph lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McDonald ducks under a wild hook from Joseph.

McDonald dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Joseph shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McDonald but McDonald pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Joseph counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McDonald thinking.
McDonald throws a sloppy body shot
and McDonald takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Joseph misses with an uppercut. McDonald saw that one coming.
Joseph rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McDonald counters with a lovely shot to the body.

A close second round but William Joseph will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Maurice McDonald has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joseph misses with an elbow to the head.
Joseph lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Joseph throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
McDonald is taking damage to the body and head.
Joseph is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The referee is taking a good look at McDonald as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Joseph!

William Joseph comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Joseph has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
