PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Coleman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Severn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coleman dives in and scores a takedown into Severn's guard.
Severn is looking to stand up but Coleman isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Severn tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Severn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Coleman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Coleman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Severn is pulling down on Coleman's head to control his posture.

Severn is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Coleman scores with a couple of nice shots.
Severn is staying active underneath Coleman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Coleman winds up and cracks Severn with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Severn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Coleman is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Coleman wants to control but Severn is keeping him busy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Coleman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Coleman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Severn manages to get himself to full guard.

Coleman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Severn kicks Coleman off and gets to his feet.
Coleman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Severn counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Coleman's guard now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Coleman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Severn is one step ahead there.
Coleman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Coleman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Severn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Coleman looks like he's trying to stand up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Coleman wants to get back to his feet but Severn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Severn is pushing down on Coleman's leg trying to pass to half guard. Coleman is fighting to maintain full guard but Severn has managed to sneak the leg through.
Coleman tries to kick Severn off but Severn keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Severn wants to pass to mount but Coleman is defending the position.
Severn works his way into full mount!
Severn fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Severn lands a nice shot to the head.
Severn lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Coleman tries to hold on but Severn pushes him away.
Coleman wants to get back to his feet.
Coleman is breathing heavily.
Severn is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Severn scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Coleman?

It looks like Mark Coleman has been cut.
Severn connects with a bit shot that sees Coleman covering up! More strikes from Severn and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Severn is our winner by TKO!
