PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Jackson. Those never looked like landing.
Jackson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stone throws out the jab.
Stone takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Jackson slips a jab from Stone.
Jackson connects with a solid leg kick.
A jab from Jackson misses.
A clash of legs there as Stone blocks the low kick.
Stone throws a shot from downtown. Jackson moves away and avoids it.
Stone scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jackson in his tracks.
Stone lunges at Jackson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jackson's hand.
Jackson has a takedown stuffed.
Jackson checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Jackson staying out of range there.

Jackson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Jackson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Stone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ben Stone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Jackson.

Stone is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jackson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Stone tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jackson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

and Jackson counters with a nice body shot.
Jackson swings for the body but Stone moves out of range.
Jackson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stone swings widly with a right hand
and Jackson counters with a low kick, right behind Stone 's knee.
Stone tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Jackson counters with a body kick.
Stone throws a left and a right that both miss

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stone won't be happy with that.
Stone wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Stone is breathing heavily.
Jackson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jackson fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The ground and pound from Jackson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jackson controlling the position from side mount.
Jackson throws an elbow but Stone slips to the side and avoids it well.
Stone wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stone is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jackson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stone is trying to control Jackson's posture but Jackson avoids it.
Jackson controls the position.
Jackson in side control lands a decent elbow.
Jackson scoring with punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Jackson dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stone tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jackson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Jackson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.


Stone is rocked!
Stone tries to hold on but Jackson postures up.
Oh Stone is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
BOOM! Jackson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Stone tries to lock up and control but Jackson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Jackson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Jackson looking to control but Stone is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Stone tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stone tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.
Jackson raining down hammerfists from mount.
Stone is trying to escape the mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jackson looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Stone covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shane Jackson!
