The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Hernandez or perhaps it was just good defense by Penn which made him look bad.
Penn lands a nice looking body shot.
A big right from Penn misses.

Hernandez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hernandez tries to stand but Penn controls the position and pulls Hernandez into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn wants to sweep here but Hernandez controlling him for the moment.

Hernandez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sergio Hernandez wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Penn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hernandez.

Penn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Penn looks to land a left hand but Hernandez moved out of range nicely.

Penn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Penn wants it to stay on the feet.

Penn is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hernandez.
Penn throws a nice outside leg kick.
Hernandez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Penn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

It looks like Sergio Hernandez has been cut.
Penn connects with the punch.
Penn misses with a jab, cross combination.
Penn moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Hernandez gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Penn gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Hernandez is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
