The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Souza dives in and grabs Bykov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bykov pushes down on Da Souza's head and hops out.
Bykov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Da Souza sprawls well initially but Bykov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Da Souza is trying to stand up here but Bykov is controlling him well.

Da Souza tries to close the distance and clinch but Bykov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Da Souza takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Da Souza fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bykov wants to pass the guard but Da Souza is keeping the position.

Bykov stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Da Souza has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Bykov manages to get his head free but now Da Souza has transitioned to an armbar! Bykov grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Da Souza! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
