Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marshal Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Monarca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marshal Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Monarca!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown slips a jab and a cross from Monarca.
Brown closes the distance and clinches up with Monarca, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes Monarca against the cage but Monarca circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Monarca scores with a three punch combo!
Monarca throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Brown counters with a nice double leg into side control. Monarca won't be happy with that.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Monarca can do anything to dispel that myth.

Brown is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Monarca is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Monarca really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The ground and pound from Brown seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Brown working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Brown misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown lands an elbow.
Monarca is working to avoid the ground and pound but Brown connects with a decent elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monarca takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Brown looks up at the clock and then as Monarca takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Brown smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Monarca parries the strikes from Brown easily there. Brown is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Monarca to escape.
Monarca takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.


Monarca is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Monarca on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Monarca is still in real trouble! Can Brown finish him?
Monarca looks gassed!
Brown in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Monarca looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Brown turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marshal Brown!
