PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihiro Kobayashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edgar comes into the arena with Rick Ross- The Boss blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Kobayashi's choice of entrance music: LiveWire - ACDC. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anderson Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihiro Kobayashi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kobayashi misses with a body kick.
Edgar lands with a slapping head kick.

Edgar drives through with a takedown into Kobayashi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Kobayashi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Edgar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Edgar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kobayashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Edgar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kobayashi can't keep his opponent in guard - Edgar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Edgar works his foot free and advances to mount.

Edgar moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kobayashi has worked his arm free - good work by Kobayashi!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Edgar throws a head kick but Kobayashi moves out of range.
Kobayashi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kobayashi.
Kobayashi avoids the head kick by Edgar.
Edgar attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Kobayashi cracks a nice hook into Edgar's ribs.
Kobayashi walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Edgar checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Edgar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Edgar tries for a kimura but Kobayashi is defending well.
Kobayashi tries to buck Edgar off but Edgar is having none of it.

Kobayashi manages to get back to half guard.

Kobayashi is staying active underneath Edgar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kobayashi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kobayashi lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Edgar looking for a guillotine here but Kobayashi defends easily.

Edgar has his foot on Kobayashi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kobayashi works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kobayashi is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Kobayashi wanted to stand there but Edgar had control of the position.
Edgar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Edgar is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Edgar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kobayashi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Edgar is tightening it up a little... Kobayashi has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kobayashi reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kobayashi taps out! nice BJJ there by Edgar!
