The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira digs a good hook to Burns's body.

Ferreira closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Burns wants to control but Ferreira postures up.

Ferreira looks up at the clock and then as Burns takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ferreira smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Burns tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ferreira wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Burns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ferreira feints and then cracks Burns's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Burns down.
The fighters circle momentarily. Ferreira darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
