The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith feints and as Berkovic raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Berkovic pulls Smith in to control the position.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Berkovic is keeping the position.

That has opened up Mario Berkovic's cut even more.

You can see the frustration on Berkovic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Berkovic, who protects the arm well.
Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Berkovic keeps working.
Smith looking to control but instead Berkovic has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Smith is looking for a kimura but Berkovic is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smith to get the leverage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Smith is looking to stall here but Berkovic recovers full guard.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Berkovic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Smith keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Smith fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Berkovic checks it well.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Berkovic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Berkovic stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Cain Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Berkovic uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith.
Berkovic blocks a low kick nicely.
Berkovic slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Smith throws a head kick but Berkovic moves out of range.
Berkovic is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Smith like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Smith from another fist facial!
