Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rex Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yusuf Akbar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards misses with a hook. Akbar ducked under it nicely.

Richards tries to pull guard but Akbar holds him up against the cage and eventually Richards drops back down to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Richards is on top in guard.

Richards tries to free his leg and advance position but Akbar is retaining full guard.

Richards sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Akbar's guard.
Akbar scores with a few weak punches.
Richards is trying to work for a kimura but Akbar is defending well.
Akbar tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Richards is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Akbar to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Richards won't allow Akbar to get back to his feet.

Akbar wants to get back to his feet but Richards is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Richards passes Akbar's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Richards is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Akbar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Akbar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Richards is controlling him.
Akbar lands a couple of shots from the bottom.
Richards has gone for a leg lock! Akbar slips out almost immediately though and dives into Richards's guard.
Richards isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Akbar stacks Richards on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Akbar!
Akbar looks up at the clock and then as Richards takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Akbar smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Richards gets back to half guard.
Richards is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Akbar pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Richards is pressing down on Akbar's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Richards working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Akbar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Akbar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Richards looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Akbar is defending well. Richards quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Akbar has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Richards celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
