Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Helmut Doerner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fjodor Sychev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doerner comes to the cage accompanied by Rock you like a Hurricane by The Scorpions. Fjodor Sychev will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sychev shoots for a double leg takedown but Doerner sprawls well. He's pushed Sychev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Doerner moves forwards but Sychev connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Sychev throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Sychev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Doerner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sychev somewhat.
Nice takedown defense from Doerner. No joy for Sychev on that attempt.
Helmut Doerner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fjodor Sychev.

Doerner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sychev pinned against the cage. Sychev gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sychev scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Sychev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sychev throws a combination. Doerner tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Doerner takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Doerner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sychev's waist but Sychev gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Doerner off to one side.

Doerner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Doerner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Doerner wants to sweep but no luck.

Sychev wants to control from the top but Doerner keeps moving.

Sychev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Doerner manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sychev has Doerner in his guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sychev manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Sychev postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Sychev lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Doerner hang on?

Doerner is bucking up trying to escape but Sychev cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
