PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gary Bunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scrooge McDuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bunn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Go to Sleep - Eminem. McDuck has chosen Scrooge McDuck as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scrooge McDuck!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDuck fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bunn manages to avoid it.
Bunn lands a right hook to the body.
Bunn cracks McDuck with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Scrooge McDuck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bunn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bunn wants it to stay on the feet.
Bunn misses with an uppercut

and McDuck counters with a single leg into guard. Bunn didn't expect that.

Bunn looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McDuck keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bunn's head.

Bunn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
McDuck keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McDuck tries to roll over but Bunn keeps him under control.

Bunn is looking to advance position but McDuck won't allow it.
McDuck is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McDuck can do anything to dispel that myth.
Well, if Bunn is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
McDuck is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McDuck keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

McDuck uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bunn.
McDuck gets cracked there but stands up to it.
McDuck swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bunn misses with a hook.
McDuck throws a series of punches but Bunn moves out of range.
McDuck avoids the body shot from Bunn.
McDuck misses with a few strikes there.
Bunn shoots in looking for a takedown. McDuck tries to sprawl out of it but Bunn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McDuck manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bunn slips a straight right by McDuck.
Bunn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McDuck doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bunn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

McDuck misses with an attempted mid kick.
McDuck fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gary Bunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scrooge McDuck.

Bunn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McDuck as he avoids it easily.

Bunn has managed to clinch.
Bunn is pressed up against the cage. McDuck has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bunn down to the mat. Bunn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
McDuck has a takedown stuffed.

Bunn lands with a hook. McDuck tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
McDuck looks for a takedown but Bunn sprawls well.
McDuck drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Bunn is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
McDuck slips a straight right by Bunn.
Bunn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
McDuck walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
McDuck goes for a takedown attempt but Bunn pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McDuck is looking to clinch but Bunn is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gary Bunn will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Horrible takedown by McDuck or perhaps it was just good defense by Bunn which made him look bad.
Bunn throws a shot to the body.
McDuck takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Bunn avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McDuck fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McDuck tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bunn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McDuck somewhat.
Gary Bunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scrooge McDuck.
Bunn takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Bunn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McDuck stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McDuck misses with a takedown attempt - Bunn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Bunn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McDuck shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bunn but Bunn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Bunn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McDuck doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McDuck manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bunn has his foot on McDuck's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McDuck works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McDuck really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bunn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gary Bunn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gary Bunn will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

McDuck goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Scrooge McDuck.
Well Bunn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
